Lying on the couch in Em's living room (which was also my temporary bed), I awoke with a start as something began vibrating and playing strange music in my pocket. I closed my eyes again and exhaled once I remembered it was just the phone my wireless carrier had mailed to replace the one that was lost in the fire; I hadn't spent any time customizing the settings yet. Funny what a little time without having a phone had done to me; all things considered, I think I liked not having one and didn't really miss it while it was gone.

            Later that morning I found myself strapped in the white Suburban with 4 other werewolves heading southbound on I-15. Bright sunlight shone through the window and onto my closed eyes. I awoke, blinked a few times, then sat up. It's amazing what a little good rest can do for a person; no matter how bad something is, a couple hours of sleep has a way of making it all feel so distant. In fact, I didn't feel half bad despite yesterday; the only real difference from any other morning was an intense hunger similar to when I first regained consciousness yesterday after being shot, and my missing hand which, to my amazement, had already started to regrow. Even my missing teeth had all come back in.
